Nokia Cuts 10,000 Jobs Worldwide

Published: June 15, 2012

Nokia, the Finnish cell phone maker company, stated last Thursday that by the end of 2013 it will have cut 10,000 of its jobs, which represents a 19 percent of its work force.

The measure is part of an emergency overhaul that includes top executives leaving the company and Nokia's factories in Finland, Germany, and Canada being closed.

Nokia was the largest vendor of mobile phones since 1998 until 2012, when Samsung took the first position. Nowadays the Finnish company is having strong competition both from Samsung and from Apple with its iPhone.
