According to information from the market research firm Net Applications, for the first time since its launching more than three years ago, Windows 7 has surpassed Windows XP as the most popular operating system.
The report states that the top five operating systems during August were:
| - Windows 7 | 38.54% |
| - Windows XP | 38.46% |
| - Windows Vista | 5.47% |
| - iPad | 3.37% |
| - iPhone | 2.42% |
The new version of Microsoft's operating system, Windows 8, will be released during next month.
